AI Vehicle Pre-Trip Inspection
Turn driver vehicle inspection reports into structured photo evidence. Drivers walk around, snap each angle, and AI confirms the inspection actually happened — no checkbox theater.
Check-in and check-out
Vehicle handoff inspections
Document condition every time a vehicle changes hands. The driver follows a guided link, each photo is checked on the spot, and a Pickup is compared with its Delivery.
$0.50USD
per completed inspection
Up to 15 retained photos included.
No setup fee. No monthly minimum.
| Completed inspections each month | Up to 15 photos |
|---|---|
| First 1,000 | $0.50 |
| Next 4,000 (1,001 to 5,000) | $0.40 |
| Above 5,000 | $0.35 |
Each monthly volume rate covers only the inspections within its band. Additional retained photos cost $0.03 each beyond 15, up to 30 total.
Photo allowance: Count the photos retained in the completed inspection, including damage close-ups. Interior, exterior, VIN and odometer photos share one allowance. A replacement or retake does not add another photo. Agree the required views and maximum photo count before capture. Optional photos the person adds count toward the total and any overage, up to the maximum you configure; the standard template never exceeds 15. The borrower does not choose a paid upgrade. More than 30 photos requires a custom scope.
What counts: Each completed Delivery, Pickup or standalone inspection counts as one inspection, whether its outcome is clear or flagged for review. A loan or rental with both a Delivery and a Pickup counts as two. Links that expire or are never submitted are not charged.
Not charged again: The first 15 retained photos, retakes, report downloads, and webhook redeliveries are included in the inspection price. Additional retained photos cost $0.03 each, up to 30 total. Replaced or removed photos do not add to the retained-photo count. Inspection photos are never billed again as single-photo API checks.
Production access is arranged with sales. Larger deployments can discuss custom terms. Detailed vehicle appraisals and the single-photo API are separate products with their own prices. See how handoff inspections work.
Why DVIRs Fail in the Real World
Common challenges teams face without automated verification
Pencil-Whipping
Paper and tap-through DVIRs let drivers check 'OK' without ever looking at the vehicle. There's no evidence the inspection actually happened.
Missed Pre-Existing Damage
Without timestamped photos, fleets get blamed for damage that was already there at the start of the shift — and pay claims they shouldn't.
DOT Audit Exposure
Roadside inspections and FMCSA audits look for proof of inspection. Tap-through logs and missing photos lead to violations and BASIC score hits.
Inconsistent Coverage
Different drivers photograph different parts. Without a structured capture flow, the inspection record is incomplete and unusable for downstream claims.
Slow Defect Triage
When a defect is logged, maintenance has to call the driver, drive out to the yard, and re-photograph the issue to scope the repair.
How It Works
Guided Walkaround
Driver opens the inspection in your app. Verdict Capture's SDK guides them through each required angle — front, sides, rear, tires, lights, undercarriage, interior.
On-Device Verification
For each capture, AI confirms the right part of the vehicle is in frame, lighting is sufficient, and known defect classes (cracks, leaks, low tread) are flagged.
Structured DVIR Record
A complete, photo-backed DVIR is generated with timestamps, GPS, and AI annotations — ready for dispatch approval, audit, or insurance evidence.
Defect Routing
Critical defects (out-of-service items) auto-route to maintenance with the photo and AI severity score, before the driver leaves the yard.
Key Features
Structured Capture Flow
Configurable inspection templates per vehicle class — Class 8 truck, sprinter van, sedan, e-scooter. Drivers can't skip required angles.
Defect Detection
AI flags common defects like under-inflated tires, oil drips, cracked lights, missing mud flaps, and damaged body panels in real time.
Audit-Ready Records
Every inspection includes immutable timestamps, GPS coordinates, device IDs, and a cryptographic hash — admissible in DOT audits and insurance claims.
Offline Capable
Inspections complete fully offline. Photos and AI results queue locally and sync when the device returns to coverage.
Maintenance Handoff
Defects flow into your maintenance system via webhook or CMMS integration with photo evidence pre-attached. No re-photographing required.
Driver Coaching
Drivers who routinely produce poor-quality inspections get inline guidance. Inspection quality improves measurably within the first two weeks.
Measurable Impact
From inspection start to DVIR complete
Defects caught at pre-trip vs. mid-route breakdown
Disputes resolved with timestamped pre-trip photos
Pickup comparison and PDF report included
