Check-in and check-out

Vehicle handoff inspections

Document condition every time a vehicle changes hands. The driver follows a guided link, each photo is checked on the spot, and a Pickup is compared with its Delivery.

$0.50USD

per completed inspection

Up to 15 retained photos included.

No setup fee. No monthly minimum.

Handoff inspection volume rates
Completed inspections each monthUp to 15 photos
First 1,000$0.50
Next 4,000 (1,001 to 5,000)$0.40
Above 5,000$0.35

Each monthly volume rate covers only the inspections within its band. Additional retained photos cost $0.03 each beyond 15, up to 30 total.

Photo allowance: Count the photos retained in the completed inspection, including damage close-ups. Interior, exterior, VIN and odometer photos share one allowance. A replacement or retake does not add another photo. Agree the required views and maximum photo count before capture. Optional photos the person adds count toward the total and any overage, up to the maximum you configure; the standard template never exceeds 15. The borrower does not choose a paid upgrade. More than 30 photos requires a custom scope.

What counts: Each completed Delivery, Pickup or standalone inspection counts as one inspection, whether its outcome is clear or flagged for review. A loan or rental with both a Delivery and a Pickup counts as two. Links that expire or are never submitted are not charged.

Not charged again: The first 15 retained photos, retakes, report downloads, and webhook redeliveries are included in the inspection price. Additional retained photos cost $0.03 each, up to 30 total. Replaced or removed photos do not add to the retained-photo count. Inspection photos are never billed again as single-photo API checks.

Production access is arranged with sales. Larger deployments can discuss custom terms. Detailed vehicle appraisals and the single-photo API are separate products with their own prices. See how handoff inspections work.

Industry Challenges

Pencil-Whipping Is Rampant

Paper DVIRs achieve only 57% full-completion rates. Drivers sign off on inspections that were never performed, creating catastrophic liability exposure—average trucking verdicts now exceed $27.5 million.

1 in 4 Vehicles Fail Roadside Inspections

The national vehicle out-of-service rate is 22%. CVSA's 2025 International Roadcheck placed 18.1% of trucks out of service on the spot—brake failures alone account for 41% of violations.

Fines Up to $19,277 Per Violation

Operating an out-of-service vehicle carries fines up to $19,277. Falsifying inspection reports costs $12,700. Only 7% of carriers pass DOT audits without a single violation.

Hidden Damage Costs Thousands

Fleets average 8.7 days of unplanned downtime per vehicle per year, costing $448–$760 per day. 78% of this downtime stems from deferred maintenance and preventable failures.

Paper Inspections Waste Hours

A thorough paper-based DVIR takes 20+ minutes. For a 50-driver fleet doing two inspections daily, that's over 25,000 hours per year consumed by paperwork instead of driving.

No Proof Inspections Happened

Paper records can't verify that an inspection was actually performed versus rubber-stamped. When accidents happen, carriers have no defensible evidence that safety protocols were followed.

How Verdict Capture Helps

AI-Guided Photo Walkaround

Step-by-step camera flow walks drivers through every required inspection point—tires, brakes, lights, coupling devices, mirrors. Completed in 3–5 minutes with guaranteed coverage of all DOT-required components.

Anti-Fraud Verification

AI examines 27+ indicators per photo—camera data, GPS coordinates, file fingerprints—to detect tampering, recycled photos, and photos-of-photos. Pencil-whipping becomes impossible.

Automated Damage Detection

Computer vision compares photos between shifts and drivers to automatically flag new dents, scratches, tire wear, and fluid leaks. Attribute damage to specific operators instantly.

DOT-Compliant eDVIRs

Generate electronic DVIRs that meet FMCSA 49 CFR 396.11–396.13 requirements. Fully compliant with the March 2026 eDVIR final rule. Records retained with full audit trails.

Offline-First Architecture

Full inspection capability without cell service—critical for rural routes, underground facilities, and remote job sites. Results sync automatically when connectivity returns.

Fleet Compliance Dashboard

Real-time visibility into inspection completion rates, open defects, CSA score trends, and compliance gaps across every vehicle, driver, and location in your fleet.

How It Works

1

Capture

Driver completes pre-trip inspection by photographing each checkpoint on their device

2

Verify

AI validates each photo against DOT/FMCSA requirements, detecting pencil-whipping and fraud

3

Act

Compliant eDVIRs are auto-generated; failed inspections trigger maintenance alerts immediately
